Our Management Team
Self Insured Plans is a family-owned business. Many members of the senior management team are owners of the business and have a vested interest in serving the needs of our customers. While many larger organizations have disinterested management, the SIP family is empowered to make timely decisions, making us "unique in a world of look-alikes."
SIP's management team has more than 40 years of benefits experience and actively participates in the Self Insurance Institute of America (SIIA), the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), the Southwest Florida Health Underwriter Association (SWFAHU), the National Association of Employee Benefits Administrators (NAEBA) and the Health Care Administrators Association (HCAA).
Stephen F. Rasnick - President
Steve was one of the early pioneers in the TPA business, starting his first TPA, Claims Administration Services, Inc (CASI) in Illinois in 1982. Within three short years, that TPA became the largest in Illinois, providing services for more than 150 employers and 125,000 members. In 1986, it was acquired by the Travelers Insurance Company to become the cornerstone company in a national network of TPA organizations that they were developing. Steve, operating as President, grew that organization to the third largest national TPA organization, serving more than 1,000,000 members, before he retired in 1994.
Steve currently serves as President of the Health Care Administrators Association (HCAA) and is a past officer and director of the Self Insurance Institute of America (SIIA), founding director of the Self Insurance Institute of Illinois, a member of the International Claims Association and is a frequent national speaker on benefit and administration issues.
Brian Rasnick - Executive Vice President
Brian attended Denison University after which he held a management position with a large national retailer. He began his insurance career in 1994 as the National Sales Director for a major reinsurer, specializing in self-funded medical coverages. He joined Self Insured Plans in 1995 as a senior sales consultant and was promoted to Executive Vice-President in 1997. Today, he is responsible for all SIP sales activities.
Caryn Rasnick - Vice President Operations
Caryn is a graduate of Miami University. Shortly after graduation, she joined The Travelers Plan Administrators as a client service consultant. In that position, she served the benefit needs of Fortune 500 clients. She was promoted to a National Accounts Manager, where she was responsible for the development and management of the Client Services team for the Illinois office of the TPA. In 1999, she joined Self Insured Plans to develop our seamless approach to account management and client service.
